Prince Brauschweig and marquis Littenheim conspire to depose the young Emperor and eliminate Reinhard. Count Franz von Mariendorf intends to join, but his daughter Hildegard dissuades him, citing the rising order under Reinhard. She instead pledges her family's allegiance to Reinhard. The high nobles form the Lippstadt League, with Braunschweig and Littenheim leading it. Admiral von Merkatz reluctantly agrees to command their military forces. On April, 6, 797 S.C. / 488 I.C., Reinhard strikes first, arresting many conspirators. However, Brauschweig and Littenheim escape and regroup most of their forces at the Geiesburg Fortress.
