The Lippstadt League devises a strategy to lure Reinhard into a decisive confrontation at Geiesburg. To support this, Admiral Staaden commands a fleet toward Odin to sever Reinhard’s supply lines. Mittermeyer intercepts Staaden, resulting in the destruction of Staaden’s forces at the Battle of Altener and their retreat to Rentenberg Fortress. Reinhard orders an assault on the fortress, where initial boarding attempts fail against Admiral Ovlesser’s garrison. However, a subsequent attack by Mittermeyer and Reuenthal succeeds, capturing Ovlesser. Although Reinhard intends to execute the prisoner, Oberstein suggests returning him to Geiesburg. Upon release, Ovlesser is killed by Braunschweig, who suspects treason. This incident fuels widespread suspicion of betrayal within the Lippstadt League ranks.
