Admiral Grillpalzer persuades Admiral Knapfstein to ally with Reuenthal, though he intends to betray him later. Meanwhile, Mittermeyer consults his subordinates on battle strategies, and Wahlen urges Reinhard to show restraint. Murai reaches Iserlohn as a negotiator for Reuenthal, but Julian rejects the offer, fearing long-term consequences for the Empire. Reuenthal and Mittermeyer attempt to resolve the conflict but fail to convince one another. Reuenthal recognizes that Reinhard requires a formidable adversary. Within Reuenthal's fleet, unrest grows. He addresses his troops, framing the conflict as a fight against corrupt vassals within the Empire, and emphasizes the necessity of securing a victory to boost morale.
