Ep. 39: Katsura Injures Leg During Shinsengumi Escape and Finds Refuge at Daigo Ramen

Katsura attempts to evade Shinsengumi inspection but suffers a leg injury from Okita's bazooka. While fleeing across rooftops, he is mistaken for a thief and subdued by Ikumatsu, owner of Daigo Ramen. The following morning, Ikumatsu serves him ramen to apologize for the error. Tension rises when her brother-in-law arrives with henchmen, prompting Katsura to chase them away. Through their subsequent conversation, Katsura discovers that Ikumatsu is a widow whose husband was killed by the Joi Faction. This revelation binds the emotionally scarred pair together as they navigate their shared trauma and begin an unconventional life together.
