In 2030 Japan, Otaki Factory employees Yun Arikawa and Haberu Katou investigate strange power fluctuations at an abandoned mansion, discovering a hidden radio broadcasting an old Indian folk song. They trace the signal to the Misakioku radio-monitoring station, where graduate student Mei Kamino investigates a related alarm. Mei is contacted online by Pelops II, a copy of Yun’s AI named Naratake. Gorou Ootaki, the eccentric boss, theorizes the broadcast is linked to SETI and alien activity. At a local festival, Gorou unveils his new creation, the giant robot Jet Jaguar. The event is interrupted by the sudden appearance of a pterosaur-like monster named Rodan. It is also revealed that the secret basement of Misakioku contains the skeleton of another giant creature.
