Ep. 1: The group pursues Asirpa to Karafuto, facing attacks and a Russian Stenka fight.
Lt. Koito, Tsukishima, Sugimoto, and Tanigaki reach Sakhalin searching for Kiroranke, with Cikapasi stowing away. They learn Asirpa was taken north to an Ainu village. After a wolverine attack bites Koito, Enonoka and her grandfather rescue them. Enonoka reveals Asirpa moved further north toward a Russian village. Meanwhile, Lt. Tsurumi searches for Hijikata’s group in Abashiri, who head to Kushiro seeking Nopperabo. Sugimoto’s party follows the trail by dog sled to the small village of Karafuto. Sugimoto wins a tavern brawl against a Russian scheduled for a Stenka. When a Russian steals their lead dog to force participation, the four Japanese men agree to fight four Russians. They win the bout but attract the attention of a large Japanese man in the audience.
