Kiroranke’s group attempts to breach Ako prison using explosives from a lighthouse, but only one charge succeeds. As prisoners flee through the hole, they encounter a Siberian tiger, yet Sofia and others escape across the ice. Sofia reunites with Kiroranke and reveals that Wilk urged Eastern ethnic minorities to unite for cultural protection. She also explains that Wilk’s name derives from the Polish word for wolf, reflecting his respect for their functional beauty and rational logic. Asirpa remembers her father’s secret: her Ainu mother named Wilk Horkew Oskoni, meaning Catching Up to the Wolf. Meanwhile, Sugimoto’s group arrives at the prison and follows the escapees. Shiraishi becomes separated by an ice fracture and is trapped on tilting ice until Sugimoto arrives to rescue him.
