Ep. 9: Banri confronts Kōko’s fears and reflects on his past with Linda during her crisis.

Kōko falls ill and misses school, returning visibly upset. She confesses to Banri her fear that he will abandon her, prompting him to promise he will stay. Banri’s spirit observes this, recalling a summer incident from their third year of high school. In that flashback, Linda asks Banri to help expose her brother’s fiancée’s affair. After photographing the couple, Linda deletes the evidence and confronts the woman, demanding secrecy. Banri initially disapproves but apologizes, promising to share the burden of her lie and always be there for her, though he fails to fully reassure her. In the present, Banri and Linda discuss Kōko’s illness and Linda’s family. When Banri forgets Linda had a brother, she leaves sadly, using his past words to encourage him to support Kōko. The spirit regrets not confessing his true feelings to Linda, believing it is too late. However, the next morning, the spirit awakens inside Banri’s physical body.
