The episode begins with a brief explanation of the cuckoo bird's lifestyle. A young girl wearing a yellow flower hat travels to the Yomota family apartment, accompanied by a yellow Kodak blimp. Inside, Inumaru notices a yellow flower but dismisses it as imagination. He attempts to converse with his father, Kinekuni, who ignores him while reading a newspaper. Inumaru mentions buying a metal bat with his savings, indirectly insulting his father, who responds dismissively. Kinekuni eventually loses his temper, tears the newspaper, and retrieves a metal golf driver from the same store. During their conflict, the doorbell rings. Inumaru's mother, Tamiko, demands that one of them answer the door. Inumaru opens it to find the girl, who introduces herself as Mariko Yomota, his granddaughter. She reveals she is from the future and that her time machine appeared as the yellow Kodak blimp. The news devastates Tamiko, causing her to leave the house.
