Aug 5, 1989The episode begins with a brief explanation of the cuckoo bird's lifestyle. A young girl wearing a yellow flower hat travels to the Yomota family apartment, accompanied by a yellow Kodak blimp. Inside, Inumaru notices a yellow flower but dismisses it as imagination. He attempts to converse with his father, Kinekuni, who ignores him while reading a newspaper. Inumaru mentions buying a metal bat with his savings, indirectly insulting his father, who responds dismissively. Kinekuni eventually loses his temper, tears the newspaper, and retrieves a metal golf driver from the same store. During their conflict, the doorbell rings. Inumaru's mother, Tamiko, demands that one of them answer the door. Inumaru opens it to find the girl, who introduces herself as Mariko Yomota, his granddaughter. She reveals she is from the future and that her time machine appeared as the yellow Kodak blimp. The news devastates Tamiko, causing her to leave the house.

Dec 10, 1989After shoplifting, Inumaru, Maroko, Tamiko, Bannai, and Kinekuni hide in an abandoned coffee shop. Kinekuni laments his role in their criminal lifestyle, while Tamiko affirms Maroko remains family. Bunmei arrives, revealing he orchestrated their entrapment by police. He orders Kinekuni to kill the family to end their misery. Inumaru distracts Kinekuni with a fake UFO sighting, leading to a struggle where a falling light injures Inumaru, Tamiko, and Bannai. With only Maroko and Bunmei conscious, Bunmei reveals his true identity as Inumaro Yomota, the son of Inumaru and Maroko. He then shoots himself while shouting "Gosenzo-sama Banbanzai!"

He recounts his troubles to a soba vendor, noting Maroko’s departure, his father’s disappearance, and his mother’s legal issues. Realizing the conversation was a dream, he finds himself in a truck. He insists on stopping to follow a snow path toward the Yomota apartment in Tokyo. There, he spots the Kodak blimp, the time machine Maroko used. He pursues the vehicle through the snow, growing increasingly exhausted until he collapses. A yellow butterfly appears briefly before flying away. As the episode concludes, Inumaru utters Maroko’s name while lying in the snow.
