Ep. 3: Danny's funeral prompts Yuuji to recall army days with his platoon and his struggle to kill.

The episode begins with Danny's funeral attended by Yuuji, Millie, and family, noting his death in an accident. A flashback reveals Yuuji's army unit meeting new member Robert Wallson, known as "Immortal Robbie," whose nickname stems from a misunderstanding of the Japanese word for little sister due to his otaku interests. Yuuji introduces his comrades: Daniel Born, a former car thief from Arizona; Milliela Stanfield, an impoverished prostitute; and Edward Walker, whom Yuuji trained. Their leader, military physician Justin Mikemeyer, renames the group the Bush Dog Platoon. During a night mission, Yuuji kills 9 enemies after encouragement, vomiting with each shot, but saves the unit. He eventually overcomes his aversion to killing. Later, Yuuji returns to Japan, where Millie reveals her rejected love for him. He reunites with Asako at their mountain home, offering his life, but she declines.
