Ep. 7: Wendelin and companions enter a sword tournament where Erwin overcomes bitterness and insecurity.

At his brother Helmut’s wedding, Wendelin learns nobles must use swords in an upcoming martial arts tournament. Louise and Lina join, and Brantack convinces Erwin to participate as well. After Hohenheim permits Elize to join their party, Erwin aims for the championship but struggles with bitterness over lacking magic, snapping at his friends. He later apologizes after discovering Elize has also been training. In the preliminaries, Wendelin loses instantly to Warren, Commander of the Royal Knights. Louise is defeated in the semi-finals, and Lina loses to the stubborn spear user Roderich. Erwin fears losing to Warren will cause Wendelin to expel him, but Louise shows him an inspirational lunch, proving Wendelin values him beyond combat. Although Erwin likely loses, Warren agrees to train him until he turns fifteen. Lina and Louise also secure trainers for their respective skills.
