Officials debate the payment for the dragon parts, with Cardinal Hohenheim, Lord Marshall Edgar, and Lord Commissioner Ruckner vying for influence. Wendelin ultimately receives 150,000 gold. At the wedding, Wendelin’s impoverished family embarrasses themselves and Duke Bleichroder due to an inadequate gift, prompting Wendelin to purchase presents. Meanwhile, Head Auditor Ruckner spreads false rumors of Wendelin’s death to advance his political ambitions. During the ascent, Elize expresses regret over not marrying Wendelin if he perishes. After Brantack exhausts his magic, Elize grants Wendelin the spell Miracle’s Light via a kiss, enabling him to defeat a dragon golem. The group eventually discovers a library and airship hangar built by Count Ichelberg, with Erwin opening the doors to reveal they have reached the surface.
