Archer holds Edward, Izumi, and Sig Curtis captive, reinstating Tucker as a state alchemist to hunt Greed without mercy. Strongarm battles Law, allowing Greed’s group to escape to a shack where Dolcetto and Law sacrifice themselves. Greed sends Al and Marta away, heading to Dante’s residence alone. There, Lyra extracts consumed Philosopher's Stone fragments, causing Greed immense pain. Edward arrives, blaming Greed for Dante’s corpse, and defeats Greed’s human shield through logical deduction. Edward stabs Greed, who explains that killing a homunculus near its original human remains prevents regeneration. Greed dies, shocking Edward. At sunrise, Marta leaves Al. The brothers reunite with Winry, Izumi, and Sig to bury Greed and Dante, then depart to find the Ishbalans.
