Aired on March 2, 2008Filler

Hinagiku feels anxious about her upcoming birthday after her mother asks if she will spend it with someone she likes. At school, both she and Hayate receive unsigned love letters, leading them to suspect each other. They meet at a kendo dojo, only to discover Koutarou sent the notes to prove he could defeat Hayate. Hinagiku becomes angry at Hayate for his comments and leaves. He loses a cat's cradle challenge against Koutarou. The next day, Hinagiku and Hayate meet in town, where she accepts his apology and admits she expected him to write the letter, causing her to flee in embarrassment. Later, while trying to rescue a cat from a tree, Hinagiku falls but is saved by Hayate, who then gives her a stuffed rabbit she desired.
