Ep. 2: The trio faces a quiz at Dolle Harbor before encountering Kiriko creatures near the cedar tree.

Gon, Kurapika, and Leorio reach Dolle Harbor and follow the captain's instructions to a hilltop cedar tree. Their path through a small town is halted by an old woman who demands they answer a quiz question to proceed, warning that failure or refusal results in exam disqualification. A previous participant passes by answering correctly. The woman then asks which loved one they would save first, implying the other dies. Leorio argues there is no right answer, but Kurapika recognizes the trick and prevents violence. When time expires without an answer, they pass because silence is the correct response. The woman guides them to the cedar tree, where they find Navigators attacked by a shapeshifting Kiriko. After Leorio tends to the wounded, Gon and Kurapika pursue the creatures, only to discover multiple attackers. The creatures reveal themselves as the Navigators and transport the trio to the exam venue.
