Forty-two finalists board Chairman Netero’s airship for the Third Phase. Secretary Beans advises candidates to eat and rest. Tonpa attempts to exhaust Kurapika and Leorio but fails. Killua confesses to Gon that he is an assassin’s son who fled his controlling family. Netero challenges the boys to retrieve a basketball from his hand. Killua quits after realizing Netero is not using his right hand or left leg, then kills two harassers. Gon persists until he headbutts Netero, forcing the chairman to use his right hand to push him away. Gon celebrates this minor victory and passes out. Netero orders the pilot to slow the ship so Gon can rest.
