Eru finishes her school radio broadcast but doubts her actions. After Fuyumi offers similar advice, she confesses to the Empress that she refuses to manipulate people like her mentor. Despite this, Eru’s radio segment triggers a surge of students to the Classics Club, hoping to stop Juumoji’s final strike. Sales of Hyouka volumes rise rapidly. However, the group fails to safeguard the Hyouka manuscript, which is destroyed by fire. A note from Juumoji is discovered inside a printed copy of the work. Mayaka suspects foul play after noticing water on the table where the manuscript rested. She also observes that Satoshi is unusually quiet and irritated by the situation. It is revealed that Houtarou has been involved in the investigation beyond his usual role.
