Upon returning to their residence, the group learns from Nobara Yukinokouji that Karuta Roromiya is missing. They begin searching for her, but Ririchiyo becomes trapped within a dark spirit barrier known as a nurikabe. Using their enhanced abilities, Soushi and Ririchiyo work together to slash through the obstacle. They eventually discover that Karuta had left earlier to help prepare a welcome party for Ririchiyo and Soushi.

The following day, Ririchiyo is amazed by Karuta’s cooking skills in home economics, helping her understand Karuta’s perspective. After school, a downpour brings a nure-onna into the building. Watanuki fails to defeat it, but Ririchiyo takes it down. The nure-onna revives and throws Ririchiyo and Watanuki out the window. Karuta arrives just in time to save them both from falling.
