Risako confronts Miyagi about his honesty, triggering a flashback to a hospital scene with an empty wheelchair. Shinobu arrives home, and Miyagi drops a photograph while attempting to leave. Shinobu presses for details and confesses his feelings, which Miyagi dismisses. Shinobu challenges Miyagi to sleep with him to prove his seriousness. Miyagi makes an aggressive move but stops when Shinobu cries. Shinobu leaves, and Miyagi reflects on a teacher he loved. Later, Miyagi finds Shinobu departing and learns Shinobu has loved him since before their meeting during the attack. Shinobu’s father calls, revealing Shinobu is returning to Australia. Miyagi rushes to stop him, arriving just in time.
