After Katse escapes in a rocket then switches to a car, the Science Ninja Team follows him into a jungle. They split into three groups to search for him while X sends a commando unit and sets traps. Joe criticizes Ryu for being unprepared, but Ryu defends his empathy for a wounded deer. Jinpei finds Katse but is captured by the commando unit. Joe and Ryu discover Jinpei is about to be sacrificed near an ice-covered mammoth. They rescue him and corner Katse, who has disguised himself as a Shinto priest. Katse retreats into a mammoth mecha and attacks the team. The God Phoenix saves them, and Joe prepares to fire a rocket at the mecha but hesitates upon seeing deer below. Instead, they lure the mecha into the mountains and trigger an avalanche with a rocket, destroying it. The team mistakenly believes the nearby jungle traps indicate the location of the headquarters, which remains hidden in fog.
