Ep. 23: Kazalm Teachers Swear to Protect Erin and Lilan from Palace Exploitation

Professor Esal discusses with fellow Kazalm instructors how Erin communicates with the Ohju Lilan using a harp rather than the mandatory Silent Whistle. Esal explains that while she and Tomura failed to engage Lilan with the instrument, the creature responds exclusively to Erin, suggesting a maternal bond. Although legends state only Shin-Oh can command Ohju, Esal fears the palace will misinterpret this as a Mist People magic trick or exploit the ability for warfare. Consequently, the teachers decide to conceal Erin’s unique connection to Lilan. They collectively take an oath to safeguard both Erin and the Ohju from external interference and potential military conscription.
