The 17th Platoon attends a training camp sponsored by Mifi, Naruki, and Mayshen. Layfon assists Mayshen in the kitchen while Nina and Felli observe, leading to a dispute over a peeler that causes Layfon to leave. In a subsequent mock battle, Layfon defeats Naruki and the other platoon members without assistance. During dinner, Nina reprimands Layfon for giving her sandwiches originally prepared by Mayshen. Later, Layfon receives a letter inviting him to meet Mayshen at a bridge. He apologizes and reveals he was exiled from Glendan for violating military arts laws. As the bridge collapses, Layfon saves Mayshen by slicing through falling debris, but he sustains severe injuries while Mayshen remains unharmed.
