Later, Keita interacts with his neighbor, a young girl named Mayu. She claims to have met her double, but is immediately struck and killed by a speeding truck. These events highlight the dangers surrounding Doppeliners and the tragic incidents affecting those connected to them in Keita's daily life.
2EP 2Kuro forms a life-saving pact with Keita after he is fatally wounded by Seiji
Jan 16, 2009Following a failed capture attempt at a ramen stop, the Tribal End Seiji arrives to take Kuro alive. During the ensuing battle, Seiji pierces Keita’s heart with mysterious Exceed Energy, causing his death. To save Keita from fatal wounds, Kuro brings him to safety and initiates a Contract by exchanging their hearts. This pact successfully stabilizes Keita. Empowered by the new bond, Kuro defeats Seiji by electrocuting him. Akane, who works as a bank teller at a local bank, is secretly followed by the pair before meeting with Keita and Kuro at a small restaurant. The trio is subsequently ambushed by Tribal End bikers dispatched to apprehend Kuro and eliminate Keita and Akane. Unable to defeat the bikers on her own, Kuro is rescued when Steiner intervenes and drives the attackers away.

6EP 6Keita Kidnapped by Mikami Hojo to Lure Kuro in Tokyo
Feb 13, 2009Mikami Hojo abducts Keita from Tokyo streets to draw out Kuro. At the mansion, two Tera Guardians engage in a fistfight, utilizing Exceed moves to gain the upper hand. The battle concludes when Mikami’s Sub Contractee, Shingo, collapses and dies from rapid aging caused by synchronization health complications. Witnessing Shingo’s death, Mikami abandons her desire to continue fighting. She permits Keita and Kuro to depart the mansion grounds permanently, ending the confrontation without further violence.
7EP 7Kuro reveals her tribal origins and Reishin's betrayal to Keita in Tokyo.
Feb 20, 2009Kuro meets Yakumo, the former ward of Reishin, in Tokyo streets alongside her new contractee Riona Kogure. She explains to Keita her arrival on Earth as a tribal princess, detailing how her mother claimed Reishin could change the world's fate, leading to the massacre of her clan. Later, Hiyou confronts Kuro at the airport, forcing her to retreat after their battle. Meanwhile, Excel and Steiner observe Keita and his group at the airport. Mar 20, 2009Keita, Kuro, and Akane take refuge in Kuraki’s cottage, where he discloses his mission to dismantle the Kaionji Group and the Shishigami Clan. He confesses to Keita that he is actually Shun Sawamura, a former schoolmate presumed dead after jumping in front of a train. Kuraki explains his motivation to defeat the clan due to their totalitarian ambition of preparing Earth for Tera Guardians to rule. 13EP 13Daichi Kuraki establishes global utopia while Noble Ones flee Japan
Apr 10, 2009Daichi Kuraki initiates plans to create a worldwide utopia, causing the Kaionji Group to surpass the Noble Ones and forcing their departure from Japan. Several Noble One agents disobey orders to stay behind, assisting Kuro and Yakumo in protecting the comatose Keita Ibuki. The Kaionji Group’s Tera Guardians attack the Noble One headquarters to capture Kuro and Keita alive. Keita awakens and unleashes his full potential, allowing Kuro to successfully repel the infiltration attempt by the Kaionji Group.

Apr 17, 2009Following Reishin's disappearance, the Kaionji clan Chairman announces Yuki Kaionji's engagement to Kuraki, who becomes Vice-Chairman, causing disgust among the clan children. Keita hides in flooded Okinawa ruins to avoid the Kaionji Group intelligence agency but desperately seeks to save Akane Sano from Kuraki. During Kuraki’s inauguration at the Kaionji hotel ballroom, attended by the Master Roots, Bernhard leads Noble One operatives Yakumo and Riona to rescue Akane. Simultaneously, Keita and Kuro confront Kuraki directly. Yuki threatens to kill Akane to end her suffering as a Sub and maintain her position within the Kaionji clan.

Apr 24, 2009Yuki hesitates to shoot Akane, leading Kuraki to disarm her, but Akane defends Yuki’s right to live. Yakumo meets Shinra, a Tera Guardian formerly aligned with the Shishigami clan under Reishin. Kuro and Keita find Yakumo injured, prompting Shinra, now backing Kuraki, to attack Kuro. Shinra’s Contractee is the young Master Root of Mayu, possessing strong Tera flow that overwhelms Kuro. Keita uses his Thousands ring to collapse the ceiling, dropping Yuki and Akane from above. Yuki guides Akane to a helicopter, but Keita’s group is intercepted by Raiga. Kuro and Keita help Yakumo escape while Yuki and Akane evacuate, though the helicopter malfunctions and crashes into the sea. 16EP 16Kuro and Keita defeat Raiga as Pure Place island appears causing global chaos
May 1, 2009Shinra attacks Kuro, who uses Synchro and her Exceed, Megaexe, to defeat him before facing Raiga. Raiga overwhelms Kuro using strong Exceed Energy while Keita’s Tera Energy depletes. Keita collapses, briefly dies, and then undergoes rebirth with doubled Tera Energy. This power boost allows Kuro to defeat Raiga with a massive Exceed attack. Keita and Kuro celebrate their victory while Bernhard and June secure the Kaionji Group hotel. Suddenly, the Pure Place island appears near Japan. People without Contracts with Tera Guardians collapse worldwide, leading to chaos and a near breakdown in society. Reishin is shown on the Pure Place, having reverted to his former appearance.
17EP 17Kuro and Keita visit the Pure Place island and learn about the Masagami curse.
May 8, 2009After mainlanders faint from Tera depletion, Kuro, Keita, Yakumo, and Riona travel to the Pure Place island. There, historian Namu explains the origins of the Masagami, Motosumitama, humans, and Tera, revealing that the Dopliner system is a divine curse. They are intercepted by Ginko clan Tera Guardian Aragi and his Contractee Sora, who attempt to block their access. Kuro and Keita defeat Aragi using their newly acquired Exceed skill. In another part of the island, Reishin battles Bernhard and surviving German High Council Tera Guardians. Despite being outnumbered, Reishin overcomes them, leaving June as the sole survivor of the encounter.
18EP 18Excel seeks vengeance for Steiner while Keita faces a forest guardian and a sudden ambush.
May 15, 2009Excel requests a commercial Contract from Mikami Hojo to avenge Steiner. Keita and Kuro enter a forest where Kuro senses a Tera Guardian, but they are attacked by Kohaku and Tenma. Meanwhile, Nam heals Yakumo by altering his Tera flow for food, violating her observer status. Keita and Kuro defeat the Mototsumitama with PuniPuni’s help but become trapped in a large plant. Elsewhere, Excel and Mikami locate Reishin and fight him due to the deaths of their former Contractees, Steiner and Shingo. They appear to win, but Reishin triggers an explosion that defeats Mikami before he can strike the final blow. Excel later warns the group that Reishin has acquired a new Contractee.
19EP 19Keita and Kuro confront Reishin and Akane regarding the Doppeliner System
May 22, 2009Keita and Kuro locate Reishin and discover that Akane remains alive and has entered into a Contract with him. Motivated by the lives lost to the Doppeliner System, they resolve to dismantle it. Although initially overpowered by Reishin and Akane, Keita’s Thousand and Kuro’s Exceed attacks shift the momentum in their favor. Akane subsequently amplifies her Tera Energy, allowing Reishin to render Kuro unconscious. As Keita struggles to comprehend Akane’s actions while exhausted, Reishin discloses that Akane voluntarily chose to join him.
20EP 20Reishin and Akane destroy the Earth Seal, releasing the Masagami ghosts while Namu protects Kuro from the threat.
May 29, 2009Reishin and Akane enter a shrine housing the Master Tera Stone, absorbing its Tera to destroy the Earth Seal. This action releases the Masagami, a dark entity that generates ghosts as physical manifestations of malice. Namu recognizes that these forces are targeting Kuro, the Shishigami princess, and attempts to intervene. He carries Kuro and Keita to safety while others try to stop the attackers. A flashback reveals Reishin’s past: he opposed the Shishigami Clan’s plan to kill Kuro, whom they believed to be the Masagami’s reincarnation. During the conflict, Reishin eliminated the entire clan. To free them from the Masagami curse, he sacrificed his mother, a shrine maiden, to the Tera Stone. In the present, he formed a Contract with Akane to finally break this curse. As Kuro awakens from stasis, a surge of Tera Energy confirms she is one of the three Masagami.
21EP 21Reishin fights the Masagami warriors while Kuro awakens as the third deity.
Jun 5, 2009Reishin battles two Masagami warriors using magma and ice attacks, while Keita and Kuro realize he protected her from becoming the third Masagami. Akane's Thousand aids Reishin in destroying the pair, but they regenerate as Kuro awakens and joins them with electrical energy. Keita reminds Kuro of their Contract, causing her to synchronize with him and attack the other Masagami. The pair then targets Keita, but Reishin intercepts them. He unleashes a final powerful move against the Masagami, draining all his Tera Energy and dying in the process.

Jun 12, 2009Masagami merge to survive but are destroyed when Keita and Akane combine Tera Energy for Kuro’s ultimate Exceed attack. Life returns to normal, yet Keita learns the Doppeliner System persists. Blaming herself, Kuro takes Keita to a ramen shop one last time. She leaves quietly the next morning for the Pure Place, stopping to bid a tearful farewell to Keita in his apartment. They bond via synchronization to cheer her up. Yakumo follows to accompany her. Nam records that the Masagami curse and Doppeliner System have faded due to a Tera Guardian in the sacred precinct.
23EP 23Kuro and Akane reflect on past contracts while Keita sends a final message before passing away.
Jun 19, 2009Flashbacks show Kuro’s life with her family, her Contract with Keita, and her return to the Pure Place. Akane recalls living with Keita, her Contract with Reishin, and the destruction of the Masagami. In the present, following the end of the Doppeliner System, Akane and Keita marry. Decades later, a dying Keita sends a telepathic message to the still young Kuro. He states he will take the curse with him and thanks her for a happy life. Keita dies while Kuro gratefully thanks her Contractee for everything he has done.
