Aired on April 2, 1967

Speed Racer refuses a racing position because his father opposes it, while Pops Racer resigns after his Mach 5 improvements are rejected. Thugs steal the plans, but Speed retrieves them after Trixie forces a drop. Pops decides to rebuild the car but lacks funds, prompting Speed to consider selling the Mach 5. Sparky suggests entering the Sword Mountain Race for the prize money. Ace Deucey arrives at the Racer home to steal the plans, which Pops has hidden on a spare windshield using invisible ink. During a road test, Skull Duggery causes a crash. Ace discovers the plans are on the windshield and attacks the Mach 5 during the race.
