Speed Racer attends a racing school where the mysterious Racer X intimidates peers but not Speed, who shares a quiet moment with his family about Rex. Later, the Racers help an elderly man and his granddaughter whose Model T breaks down. After dining together, gang leader Tongue Blaggard steals the car, seeking a code for stolen money mentioned by a former inmate. Speed vows to recover the vehicle. Trixie locates the stolen Model T via helicopter and brings it to the garage for repairs. To bait Blaggard, Speed decorates the Mach 5 with the secret engine code. Blaggard’s men pursue them, setting a fire that forces Racer X to intervene, leading to a cliffside standoff as a helicopter deploys armed motorcyclists.
