Majikaja modifies Riko's White Whistle to unlock its full potential and introduces the group to a village shielded from curses, where Hollows are confined and society operates on a trade of value. When a Hollow injures Meinya, the village's defense system seizes the creature's organs and belongings to compensate Riko. She uses this acquired value to rent an inn but suffers food poisoning. Reg and Nanachi observe a disturbance as Majikaja reveals Faputa, the Princess of Hollows, has arrived at the village perimeter. Understanding Faputa delivered the whistle, Reg proceeds to the entrance and meets her alongside her robotic companion. In a separate timeline, the Ganja encounter welcoming robotic beings in the sixth layer before one is consumed by a monster. Vueko concludes that reaching the Golden City does not guarantee their safety.
