Mai stops time while walking home with her grandfather to buy a Victorian doll from an antique shop, ignoring the clerk's warning. At home, she observes the doll’s reflection in a magical mirror weeping constantly. Following her grandfather's advice, Mai attempts to understand the doll's emotions. Through the mirror, she witnesses memories from the shop window, revealing a sailor doll in a nearby cafe. This discovery silences the crying. Mai retrieves the sailor doll to unite the pair, causing the spirits of two fairies to transfer from the dolls into the magical mirror.
