Conrad arrives at the Mylee shrine, declaring his love for Melissa. He is her former fiancé. Melissa states that if Conrad defeats Louie in a duel, she will return to Ramliearth. Otherwise, he must never approach her again. Conrad is now a master swordsman. Louie has only one week to train. It is clear that Louie is in danger. Melissa attempts to stop the fight. The duel proceeds anyway. She can only watch and pray for the outcome.
