Komori chooses to play baseball, prompting Sawamura to discard Goro's mitt. Komori intervenes to stop Sawamura from throwing the item into the nearby river. Unbeknownst to them, Goro has been following the pair. Goro confronts Sawamura regarding his insensitivity toward others' feelings. Sawamura realizes Komori is an individual and apologizes to both Komori and Goro. He then requests permission to join Mifune's baseball team, bringing the roster count to 9.
