Laharl, Flonne, and Etna travel to the castle with Captain Gordon, Jennifer, and Thursday after a duel. Inside, Laharl claims his throne and uses a demon tome. Thursday signals the battleship Gargantua, prompting General Carter to attack. Captain Gordon is defeated by Kurtis, who reveals he manipulated Gordon. Jennifer switches sides to Kurtis. Flonne and Etna are captured. Laharl confronts the battleship alone but is intercepted by Kurtis, who exposes his betrayal. Kurtis throws both Laharl and Captain Gordon to the ground, ending the confrontation with the heroes in disarray and the castle under siege.
