During a crimson moon, student Mei Ayazuki joins magician Charlie in a trick that causes her to vanish. She awakens in an unknown park and is escorted to a party at the Rokumeikan, a venue for significant government gatherings. There, she meets men resembling historical figures before reuniting with Charlie, who reveals she has traveled back to the Meiji-era. While attending the event, Mei is saved from police custody by Ougai Mori, who introduces her as his fiancée to protect her from the authorities in this unfamiliar time period.
