Kokusho survives a 10 meters fall with only minor bruises. Conan suspects the killer used the Yahamine legend to mislead the investigation and links this case to a previous murder. Yamamoto accuses Tsukada of the crime due to an expected financial gain, a view Kogoro shares, but Conan and Ran insist on speaking with Tsukada first. They find his house empty and Taisei joins them. Kogoro contacts the police to monitor the harbor and airports. Taisei recalls Tsukada might own a boat, prompting Ran and Conan to search the house. They discover fresh sawdust and a secret passage to a railroad. Conan has Ran call Kogoro before they proceed, noting the lack of phone service. Conan reveals Tsukada’s wealth stems from illegal timber smuggling, not Yoshimi’s death. The motive for attacking Kokusho remains unclear. Kogoro, realizing the harbor search is unproductive, contacts Ran. Ran and Conan reach the cliff where Kokusho fell, finding a surprise waiting for them.
