The Junior Detective Boys observe a sniper shooting a balloon near a river. Conan later spots the sniper held at gunpoint by two men. Upon arrival, the gunmen have fled, but Conan discovers a calculator left behind with the numbers 3540405162. Police confirm that the sniper, Yamabe Koichi, and his wife Eri are missing. Conan inverts the calculator to decode the message, revealing Koichi plans to shoot someone on the Shoho train on the 29th at 1:00pm. Conan and the police track down the sniper and rescue him and his wife. The hostage-takers belong to the Tiger Dragons gang and intended to assassinate a prosecutor who arrested their leader.
