Masami Hirota hires Kogoro to locate her father, Kenzo, whose name is deciphered from a cat’s alias as a racehorse. After finding Kenzo at a track, he is murdered and Masami vanishes. Conan, whose tracker glasses failed, discovers another detective hired by Hirota Akira. Upon recharging his glasses, Conan locates Masami and finds Akira dead. He deduces the Hirota family’s link to a billion yen robbery and spots a disguised Masami passing a suspect. Tracking her to a meeting with her boss, Okita, Conan learns Masami is Miyano Akemi, who stole the funds with the victims. Okita attempts to silence her but is subdued by Conan. Akemi reveals the money is hidden at a hotel and thanks Conan for his intervention.
