The Junior Detective League attends a camping trip to rehearse for a school puppet performance. A serial killer is reported in the vicinity of the campsite. During the event, students vanish alongside their puppets, leaving Mitsuhiko isolated. He wrongly suspects their teacher is the murderer. The teacher corners Mitsuhiko, revealing he orchestrated the scare as a prank against Mitsuhiko’s bossiness, following advice from Genta and Ayumi. Mitsuhiko flees in anger and encounters the actual serial killer. Conan intervenes, apprehending the criminal. Subsequently, Ayumi kisses Mitsuhiko for the cruel joke played on him.
