Conan uses a Hiragana table to decode symbols on various objects, realizing they point to the central chandelier. By matching markings on the chandelier, a staircase to the attic appears. Inside, the Junior Detective League finds the skeleton of an elderly man, whom Conan identifies as the code’s creator who mailed Agasa’s aunt. Conan also discovers a twenty dollar plate used for counterfeiting, explaining the man hid from his captor. The culprit emerges, having searched the mansion for years to retrieve the plate, and tries to steal it. Conan successfully apprehends the criminal, leading to his arrest.
