Conan notices Ran acting differently and suspects she has a secret. Kogoro brings them to Doctor Yoshiteru Araide for a checkup, where they meet his wife Yoko, mother Mitsu, and son Tomoaki Araide, who seems to interest Ran. The maid Hikaru is warned about breaking a vase. Later, during dinner, a blackout happens and another vase breaks. When power returns, Hikaru and Yoko discover Yoshiteru dead in the bathtub with an electric razor. Conan struggles to focus on the investigation because he sees Ran and Tomoaki growing closer together.
