Ep. 20: Ayumi and the Detective Boys explore a haunted mansion where a murder occurred five years ago.

Ayumi spots candlelights in an abandoned house linked to an unsolved murder from five years ago. She convinces the Junior Detective Boys to investigate, but Conan discovers active utilities inside. Mitsuhiko and Genta get separated and captured. Conan and Ayumi follow an old woman down hidden stairs to find a caged man named Akio. Conan deduces Akio is the son of the victim, held by his mother to prevent a police confession. The woman attempts to kill Conan, but Akio confesses to killing his father after failing a crucial test three times. His mother staged the scene as a robbery and imprisoned him. Conan persuades Akio to surrender, and the mother complies. The boys are found sleeping outside. Later, the group decides to investigate another haunted house, which actually belongs to Shinichi.
