Tatsuo Mori, impersonating Detective Kogoro, reaches the Aoiya Hotel to investigate a suicide from 4-5 years ago involving a long-haired man. The real Kogoro, accompanied by Ran and Conan, encounters Detective Yamamura, who details inconsistencies like a winter coat worn in summer and missing keys. Kogoro learns he was hired by owner Yoshiro Onda. Upon arrival, Kogoro collides with his imposter and meets Eiji Urakawa and Masao Jinbo, who returns Ran's phone. Kogoro conceals his true identity. That night, Tatsuo is discovered hanging in his room.
