Conan, Kogoro, and Ran visit the Sunflower Building, an isolated mansion that rotates every 12 hours, for an outdoor barbecue. While the owner remains inside, a gunshot is heard, prompting the group to rush in and discover him dead with a wound through the forehead. Conan investigates the scene and identifies the culprit as one of the owner's students studying to become an architect. The student confessed to killing the owner because the owner had stolen his work and was receiving an award for it.
