Professor Agasa provides Conan with a voice-changing bow-tie, noting Ran's concern for Shinichi. Conan’s classmates attempt to befriend him after school. Singer Yoko Okino hires Kogoro to investigate a stalker, leading to the discovery of a stabbed man in her apartment. The victim was Yoko’s ex-boyfriend, making her a suspect alongside manager Yamagishi Eiichi and rival Ikezawa Yuko. Conan deduces the murder method: the victim used a block of ice to position a knife in his back, creating a locked room scenario. Shinichi knocks out Kogoro and impersonates his voice to reveal the suicide setup. Later, Conan uses the device to call Ran, reassuring her that he is working on a difficult case and will return once it is resolved.
