After dinner featuring cake and coffee, the host collapses and dies from poison in the yard. Conan investigates and determines the coffee was the lethal source. Utilizing a tranquilizer dart wristwatch to incapacitate Kogoro and a voice changing bow-tie to mimic him, Conan deduces that Mrs. Minagawa administered the poison. She explains she required funds to save the family home after her husband’s business failure. The antidote was present in the cake consumed by all attendees except Keenan. The narrative concludes with Ran holding chocolate intended for Shinichi, deciding to share it with Conan.
