Seven-year-old movie star Kazuki Kinukawa visits the Mori office to locate his mother, who abandoned him at a church. He intends to refuse her financial support now that he is famous. Conan deduces she works at a hotel in Atami based on dirty postcards. Kazuki recalls she has a beauty mark near her breast. Freelance writer Yushiro Kamoshita checks into the hotel to interview her regarding Kazuki's father's alleged murder. Kamoshita is strangled but captures a photo of the attacker during the assault. The image shows a woman with the specific beauty mark. Police identify three female employees without alibis, but none possess the mark near their breast.
