The show's unexpected success has turned the quiet area into a tourist hotspot, with many women tying red handkerchiefs to branches, which ruins Sonoko's plan to use the spot for a romantic date with Makoto. During their visit, they meet a man claiming to be part of the television crew, hired by a fan to locate the original tree with the show's handkerchief. Shortly after this encounter, the man is found stabbed to death at the exact location of the tree.
