Heiji, Kazuha, Kogoro, Ran, and Conan travel to East Okuho following a letter from Makato Okuda, who claims Shinichi made a deduction error. They discover Makato has been missing for over a year. Conan attends the meeting, gets trapped, and accidentally takes the APTX 4869 antidote instead of cold medicine. He escapes into a river and reverts to Shinichi, only to be found by the group with amnesia. Villagers blame the Shiragami deity. Haibara warns that the antidote lasts 24 hours, risking exposure if amnesia persists. Shinichi was summoned to investigate a mayor’s double suicide. Journalist Misato Kawuchi threatens to expose him unless he confesses to faking amnesia. The next day, Kawuchi is stabbed, with Shinichi holding the knife. The group hides him to prove his innocence while Heiji investigates the frame-up linked to a past case. Ran enters the forest to confront the Shiragami but falls off a cliff and loses consciousness.
