Genta's father advances to the finals of a contest open to all Kojima family members, offering a 10 million yen prize and a 30 million yen boar painting. Host Gonsaku Kojima explains the boar painting is worthless without its paired deer and butterfly pieces, which he lost. Conan and the Detective Boys attend to watch the event. After the competition is abruptly canceled, Conan spots blood on the announcer's sleeve and investigates. He discovers Gonsaku was murdered by being pushed down the stairs during a struggle over a document. With only the three finalists present on the floor, Genta's father and the other two competitors become the primary suspects in the homicide.
