Inspector Megure visits the Mouri Detective Agency to ask Kogoro Mouri for help with a homicide. Three weeks prior, Reigan Yutaka, a renowned Japanese literature scholar, was discovered stabbed to death inside his residence at Yotsubadai. Authorities arrested Maihama Ryuji as the suspect. With only two days left in his detention, Ryuji reveals he committed a burglary in Sasago-cho, providing a solid alibi for the murder time. Although the police suspect Ryuji, the locations are separated by an hour's travel, making the method of the crime unclear. Conan deduces the truth, tranquilizes Kogoro, and solves the case.
