Heiji and Okita attempted a preliminary match before the tournament began, but Sato intervened. Sato assured Heiji that the tournament would not be canceled if he solved the case before the matches resumed. Police officers inspected the belongings of three suspects. Heiji identified the culprit and solved the case. Ran hurried to return Heiji and Okita to the venue, but the matches had already ended. Their opponents won by default. Momiji chose to meet Heiji under better circumstances and then left. Heiji failed to confess his love once again.
