Guy is abducted by a giant bird during a storm, stranding the crew on an island inhabited by numerous summoning animals. While Naruto and Yamato search for Guy, Aoba follows a young woman to an abandoned house and discovers a journal about a research group creating an ultimate summoning animal. Aoba is then led to a volcanic crater lab where he learns the creature is an anti-ninja weapon that assimilates prey abilities and slaughtered its creators. Naruto and Yamato reunite with Guy and follow the bird to the crater. The ultimate animal awakens, devouring two creatures and revealing its imago form with genjutsu and lightning style attacks. The group tries to push it into magma, but it grows wings. Honoka, a researcher's spirit, subdues the beast, allowing Naruto to destroy it with a Rasen-Shuriken. As the ship departs, Aoba hears Honoka thanking him.
